Mini-Mag Story
: “Hidden Passions

“It’s true,” they said, “She really does drive a Corvette!”

My co-workers were speaking of the HR Consultant in our office.

At the time, I was working as a sales executive in the healthcare field.

When I was told our HR gal drove a hot car, my curiosity was piqued!

I just had to find out the truth for myself.

I quickly walked to her office. On the way, I found myself picturing the
young woman in my mind. I could see her in the conservative dresses
and suits she usually wore, especially the ones with bow tie ribbons at
her throat. I envisioned her petite, child-like frame, and her small hands.
I remembered her limp, damp handshake and the soft-spoken,
mild-mannered way that made her seem meek and mousy.

I was having a hard time imagining her behind the wheel of a powerful sports car!

Was there a free-spirited tiger hidden under there?

I knocked on her office door.

“Come in,” she said softly.

I was curious, and didn’t waste time getting to the point. “Do you drive a Corvette?”

A bit of a smile came to her face, and then it broadened. “Yes, I do,”
she said a little louder this time, “not right now of course because of the
cold weather, but every spring I take a day off of work to take it out of
storage. I’m getting it out on Thursday!”

Her face was filled with joy.

Now she beamed! She glowed! She was transformed before my eyes!
There was an aliveness and excitement that I had never seen from her before.

The imp in me couldn’t resist the next question,
“Have you ever had a speeding ticket in it?”

“Oh no-o-o-o,” The light, breathy response flowed from her lips,
her usual reserved- self had returned.

I had witnessed something very special. It was truly a gift.
A gift I haven’t forgotten, not even ten years after our conversation.

She had shared her passion with me in a brief moment. It was beautiful!

Do you have a Hidden Passion?

Is it still in storage somewhere, just waiting to be set free, buffed up,
and allowed to sparkle the way it was meant to be?

Connecting with Your Passion,

Connects you to Your Voice,

and Your Power!

Stride On
Tips for the Bold: “Taxed by Tolerations?”

Tolerations are those situations, people, or things in our lives that zap
our energy, keeping us from doing the things we love to do. It is not so
much about time management, as it is about Energy Management; our
mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional energy!

Fall’s just around the corner; it’s time for zapping those tolerations
for a fresh start.

TIP: To re-new and re-energize your Physical Energy and Space
play the “Toss Ten” Game.

COMMITMENT: Commit to tossing TEN things from your life, home,
or work space
every day for the next week. Toss, donate, share, recycle, etc…

BONUS: What do you love to do? Imagine the energy to do it after you have
zapped several mini-tolerations in the next week!

CHALLENGE: Challenge each family member to join you in the
 “Toss Ten” Game.
Support each other, and have fun with it.

REWARD: How will you reward yourself and your family for taking
on the “Toss Ten” Challenge?

AWARENESS: Lots of mini-tolerations equal one big energy drain.
One BIG Toleration can equal an even bigger energy drain.
What’s the “biggy” that you’re avoiding?

What did you notice after you completed the “Toss Ten” Game?
Share with your coach, family, friends, or personal journal.
